Service in September
Current, the Fellowship's young leaders network, is directing Service in September, an effort to encourage CBF communities to focus on missions in their own backyards. Current encourages congregations to serve alongside CBF field personnel and Together for Hope ministries, as well as other mission-focused projects in their own communities.
How to participate:
1. Discern a missions project in which you can serve your community
2. Select a day(s) in the month of September for your project
2. Engage adults, youth and children in this project
3. Register your project with Current to share with others what you are doing
History of Service in September
Every fall, Current coordinates a national mission project. Formerly, this event was called Eleven-on-11. Historically, Eleven-on-11 began as an effort to do something “constructive” to remember 9/11 – a day which is forever marked by “destruction.” That year, September 11th fell on a Saturday, and eleven states participated in local mission projects on that day.
Since then, the project has grown and it has become a way for Baptists across all ages and all states to connect and serve God in whatever way their own local community needs.
