Diann lives and ministers in the extreme southern tip of Texas, in a region bordering Mexico known as the Rio Grande Valley. She works mostly in Hidalgo County, which holds the #1 place in the U.S. for concentrated poverty, and works on several levels addressing the issue of systemic poverty.
Diann's focus—the Rio Grande Valley Literacy Center—is a development ministry specifically targeting Latino adults who want to address their lack of education or English skills. The Literacy Center offers year-round ESL classes and GED preparation courses throughout Hidalgo County. This particular ministry has a direct correlation to poverty, and allows Diann to be the presence of Christ on the U.S./Mexico border.
