About the Authors

donanddorisweb.jpgDoris P. Littrell is the major author of the website on community development.  She and her late husband, Don, have served as volunteer consultants and trainers for Together for Hope, the Fellowship’s Rural Poverty Initiative.

Both retired from the University of Missouri-Columbia, where Don was an Associate Professor in Community Development, and Doris was Director of MU Direct: Continuing and Distance Education.

After many years of teaching and consulting in community development in the U.S. and overseas, in retirement they felt led to work in Together for Hope.  The initiative is to bring people out of poverty through community development.  The focus is on people in 20 of the poorest U.S. counties.

The Littrells wrote Practicing Community Development, a book designed for people working on the community level, and for introductory community development and social science courses.  Individual or group orders can be placed by phone at 1-800-292-0969 or order online.
