John and Michele Norman
Location: Four Oaks, N.C., as advocates for ministry in China
Hometown: Four Oaks, N.C.
Commissioned: 2009
After John and Michele Norman adopted two children from China, they felt a unique connection with the country. Their ministry will be as advocates, who develop a network of individuals and churches committed to supporting and participating in CBF’s ministries in China.
“It is our hope that others in the Fellowship will have a passion for the ministry efforts of CBF’s field personnel in China, compassion for needs of the Chinese people, and a desire to live out their own call in conjunction with this,” they said. “We believe many churches want to hear the story and find their place within it.”
While serving as China advocates, the Normans will continue their occupations – John as pastor of First Baptist Church in Four Oaks, N.C., and Michele as an adoption social worker. “Having been brought up in churches where missions was important, we each felt a sense of calling to do whatever it was that God had in store for us and to live a lifestyle of servant ministry,” they said.
