Promoting the Offering through stories and video

Nomie Derani, one of CBF's field personnel, serves among Arab-American immigrants in Brooklyn, N.Y. They face many challenges as new residents in one of the country's largest metropolitan areas. One day an Arab woman who’d been kicked out of her house and onto the New York City streets came to the local Arab American Friendship Center where Nomie ministers daily. Nomie helped the woman find a new place to live. Later, the woman said something was different about Nomie. “That’s our purpose,” Nomie said.  “It is for her to find the difference in our lives – Jesus Christ.”

Nomie is one of many CBF field personnel whose ministry is supported by gifts to the Offering for Global Missions. Consider sharing this short story with your congregation and ask members to give to support this life-changing work.  Other missions stories are also available online.

Promote the Offering through video

Several videos are available to promote the Offering. These video segments bring the sights and sounds of ministry to life and allow church members to hear directly from field personnel supported by the Offering:
·       Sam Bandela's ministry in remote villages in India
·       Nomie Dernai's ministry among Arab immigrants in Brooklyn, N.Y.
·       A challenge to give from CBF Global Missions coordinator Rob Nash
·       Music reflection video on ministries the Offering supports
·       David and Merrie Harding's ministry in remote Ethiopian villages that need clean water (available online only)
·       Short testimonies from Joel and Tiffne Whitley (Spain), Arville and Shelia Earl (Macedonia), and Angel and Jason Pittman (Miami, Fla.)

All but the Ethiopia video are available on the Offering DVD you received in the spring leader's guide packet.

Update on the Offering goal
Since Oct. 1, 2007, $3,116,217 has been contributed toward this year's $6.15 million goal. This accounts for 50 percent of the Offering goal. Encourage your church members to give generously so field personnel can continue sharing Christ's love among the most neglected people in the world.
