Youth assembly and children's assembly and child care are offered during the General Assembly. Assembly Highlight | Assembly-wide prayer and discernment about CBF
As part of this Fellowship, you are needed to help discern the future direction of CBF. After 17 years of growing ministry, where CBF goes from here will be discerned with your help. On Thursday, the entire Assembly will divide into groups for one hour of guided prayer and discernment about CBF's future. These groups will gather again Friday to discuss where God may be leading CBF. Don't miss this significant moment in the life of the Fellowship. Learn more. Housing information | New discount university housing added
Stay at the University of Memphis, where $93 gets you a three-night stay in a double-occupany room. While 8 miles from the Cook Convention Center, parking is affordable. If interested, e-mail assembly@thefellowship.info. You must reserve by May 15. The Marriott Hotel, Crowne Plaza Hotel (formerly Wyndham Garden Hotel) and Doubletree Hotel are sold out. Rooms are available at the SpringHill Suites by Marriott (6 blocks from Convention Center) at a rate of $149 per night and Holiday Inn Select Downtown (10 blocks from the Convention Center) at a rate of $169-179 per night.
Auxiliary Events | Coffeehouse concert with Bethany Dillon
Bethany Dillon, 18, will be the Assembly's musical guest Thursday. She will help lead in worship and will perform a coffeehouse concert Thursday at 9:30 p.m. in the Convention Center. Dillon, who released her fourth album April 1, has toured with Jeremy Camp, Bebo Norman and Shane & Shane. Listen and learn more about her music, which was featured in the motion picture "Dreamer." Give back | Collect items for ministries or serve in Memphis
When you come to the Assembly, pack a few extra items that can make a difference for several ministries. Four ministries have requested items that will enhance their ability to minister. Consider bringing a few items with you. Items will be collected throughout the Assembly, so you can also purchase items while in Memphis. Check out what's needed. Also, opportunities are still available for those who want to give back to Memphis by participating in local service projects. Projects are available Monday, June 16 through Wednesday, June 18. Things to See and Do in Memphis | Main Street Trolley
Not only can this historic trolley take you on a scenic riverfront tour, but it can also get you around downtown faster. It costs $1 one-way or $1.50 roundtrip, and it can take you to other Memphis attractions or to and from some hotels with CBF room rates. Learn more about Memphis
Workshop Highlight | Bible Study series with John Killinger
Killinger, a noted author and preacher, will lead a three-part study on Faith, the Bible and Everyday Life. He will talk about "The Changing Shape of our Salvation," "My Life with Jerry Falwell" and "A Dramatic New Interpretation of the Gospel of Mark." Browse the complete list of workshops
Travel details for Memphis | Directions, parking and ground transportation
If you are flying to Memphis, there are two forms of public transporation to downtown: taxi and shuttle. Taxi fare is about $35 from the airport to the Convention Center. If you aren't traveling with others, you might want to consider the shuttle, which is $16 on-way or $26 round-trip. Make online reservations for the shuttle, which services all the General Assembly hotels. More than 1,000 parking spaces are available at the Convention Center for $5 per day. Parking fees at hotels vary. Driving and walking directions are available from all General Assembly hotels.
Get involved | Can you volunteer? Can you sing?
It takes a lot of volunteers to create a successful General Assembly experience. There is a need for ushers, hospitality volunteers, communion servers and registration workers. If you'd like to help serve communion Friday evening, contact Martha Strong. For more information about other ways to volunteer, contact Ray Higgins. Let us know where you would like to help: registration, information stations or ushering. If you'd like to volunteer to help with recycling efforts, e-mail Chris Boltin. If you'd like to sing in the Assembly mass choir during worship sessions, contact Donna Gosser.
Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Offering | Give at General Assembly
In a five-year emphasis, a special offering is being collected as part of the Fellowship’s annual General Assembly. The proceeds of this offering, in honor of Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter, are used to support causes that increase religious liberty and improve human rights among the world’s communities. Your church may wish to collect a special offering earmarked for the Carter Offering. Airfare discount | Save on AirTran or Northwest flights to the Assembly
AirTran is offering a 10 percent discount on flights to Memphis (MEM) for travel June 15 through June 25.
