ATLANTA – Dove Award-winning recording artist Bruce Greer has released a new album he compiled after a Cooperative Baptist Fellowship Global Missions tour of Asia.
"The Mission," which debuted at October’s We Love Missions conference, is a "collage of songs about mission," Greer said. In February, Greer was part of a six-person team from First Baptist Church, Lewisville, Texas, sent to explore potential people group partnerships. As the team rode on a boat passing impoverished people, Greer wrote "Faces," the song that inspired the album. "These people were living in shacks on stilts over the river yet they would smile and wave at us as we drove by," he said. "Their faces were ingrained [on me]."
Greer said he’s always tried to bring missions to music, although this is his first album devoted to Christian mission. The concept recording contains new songs, hymns about mission, and songs that Greer wrote "20 years ago that never fit in other albums," he said.
The 74-minute album has 26 songs including:
People Need the Lord
Shine Jesus Shine
I Have Decided To Follow Jesus
He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands
That Song About the Neighbors
Kingdom of Priests
Because You Prayed
Send the Light
Rescue the Perishing
I’ll Follow Him
Faces
Tell Me the Story of Jesus
Let Others See Jesus in You
