As a registered nurse, Tori Wentz fulfills her calling through providing medical care and training in some of the world’s impoverished areas. She has worked as a hospice nurse in communities in Ethiopia and conducted medical clinics in communities affected by the 2010 Haiti earthquake.
Now, Wentz serves in Virginia, seeking to be the welcoming presence of Christ to refugees and other disenfranchised people. Her ministry includes assisting women with literacy and language skills, driver's education, citizenship and vocational training and assistance finding jobs.
“When Jesus healed, he did not do so from a distance,” Wentz said. “He reached out and touched [people], even those considered outcasts. That is the focus of my ministry … being the presence of Christ to those who fear that God might not want to have anything to do with them.”
