Keri Gage Spears

In 2002, Spears began serving at Touching Miami with Love (TML), a ministry of the Fellowship and CBF of Florida located in Miami’s Overtown neighborhood.

TML provides a variety of services to the Overtown community – summer camps, after school programs, a Christmas store, tax services and assistance finding jobs, housing and social services. The center is a haven in the midst of a community where drug trafficking, prostitution, teenage pregnancy and gang related violence are common.

"This is a challenging community to minister in, but it’s where I call home," said Spears. "I’ve learned a lot about Jesus’ ministry to the poor through my work at TML. I want to show the kids and their families that they are loved and cared for."

After her three-year Global Service Corps assignment ended in 2005, she stayed on at TML to become its Assistant Director serving as a CBF Affiliate.
